Savvy's New Borns

September 17th we went to Camera Shy in Lehi and got Savanna's new born pictures taken. We also had them take a few of just Blakelee for her 2nd Birthday! She did a great job. I was a bit stressed not so much about Savvy but about Blakelee. She is my little spit fire. She likes to do things on her time and in her way. I love how much sass and personality she has, but for things that she needs to be happy and smiling I get stressed out. But she did awesome!!! She smiled and was having a blast having attention. I love getting family pictures taken. It is so much fun to have them to look back on and see how much the girls have changed. It is amazing that even from our maternity pictures, that were taken only a few months before these, how much Blakelee has grown up!!
I love these girls!!! I am one blessed mama!

The hibernating month of September

The month of September was very low key, we didn't really do anything other then things at home. We did go out to dinner a few times, hung out with our families and had some visitors. Savvy didn't really sleep well for a few weeks... it was defiantly challenging. For the first 2 weeks she was sleeping in our room in the pack and play. But I guess in our bed as well. I had a really hard time having her in our bed but that was seriously the ONLY way she would get any sleep. So we put her on a pillow in between us and she would sleep an hour or 2 between feedings. But I wouldn't sleep at all waking up every 20 minutes or so making sure she was still on the pillow and hadn't rolled off and making sure we hadn't rolled on top of her. That is why I DO NOT like having my babies in my bed! I finally got her to sleep most of the time in her pack and play after the first week.
She would start to get really fussy about 8pm and it usually lasted until 1am, give or take. So by 9 or 10 I had changed her and fed her and I was pooped!!! So Griff was usually still up so I would go get a few hours of sleep while her rocked her or let her swing. It was nice to get some sleep. After week 2 I finally decided I was not sleeping and was a total zombie, she needed to go into her room in her crib! So I started placing her in her crib at night after each feeding the first few feedings she would cry and I would have to bring her back into my room with the lights dimmed and either finish off the bottle I was giving her or try and rock her to sleep. I usually could get her down by 12am which was better then 1am!! After a while She was finally sleeping 3 to 4 hours between feedings which was GREAT!!!
I started out nursing the first week but then realized that I hated it!!! And that she wasn't getting full. I always had to top her off with formula afterwards and still had to pump so it was a VERY long process!!!! She was just to wiggly to latch the whole time. She would fight me every time I tried to latch her. So I gave up! I started to pump and feed instead which took so much stress and pressure off my shoulders. I was getting a good amount that could fill Savvy up. I was so proud. I was doing so much better with breast milk with Savvy then I ever did with Blakelee.
Savvy would sleep pretty much ALL day the first few weeks so I would catch up on all the laundry and house work it was great!! I felt like I had a very clean house because I was almost to the point of boredom. I always thought I wanted to be a stay at home mom. That was always my goal in life. But having this time off with 2 girls, and maybe it is because they are both so young and demanding right now, I can not wait to get back to work!!! I will only be working 3 days a week which wont be a ton but it will be nice to be able to get out of the house for a few hours a week and make some money. Not to mention see all my friends and clients and have some adult conversations!!!
The first little bit of having a new born is very stressful and hard on me. I am not a huge fan of the newborn stage. And maybe I am a bad mom for saying that, but I think anyone who says it is the most favorite is kidding themselves! I do like the cuddles and little baby sounds and smiles. But 3 months on is the best. Savvy is getting more and more interactive so it has been so much more fun!!!
Blakelee LOVES her sister. She can't say sister or really say Savvy so most of the time her saying savvy sounds like sorry, or she just says baby! She will let me know when baby is stinky, crying or hungry. She says blanky and binky when she thinks Savanna needs one of them although both blanky and binky sound the exact same. She gives her kisses and shares all her toys, wants to hold her and will hold out her arms while saying "I got her I got her!!" Then gets mad when I tell her she is to little to hold her. I will help her hold her while she is sitting down but then she tries to move my hands away! She wants to be such a big girl. She will rub her hand or head or give her a kiss and say "aww cuutte" She always has to have a bow on if sis has a bow or if Blake is wearing a bow she has to get one for Savvy. And is Savvy has a blanket in the car, which is all the time, Blakelee will be so upset if she doesn't have one too. She hasn't really been jealous at all but I have noticed that when we are eating our meals at the counter she wants to sit on my lap with me. I think it is because I am usually holding Savvy. So when I am not she wants to sit on my lap. And when we are on the couch or coming down the stairs she wants me to hold her or sit right next to her. She has been a good sister to share me. But still wants to make sure I am giving her attention.
I have the best 2 girls in the world!!! Love them so much.
